The tension has been rising since we were shortlisted out of over 600 applicants for the Health Service Journal Value Awards 2018. Our presentation around the use of Virtual Patient Consultations in London a few months ago went down a storm and we left the judging panel feeling confident.
It was a long wait until the awards ceremony in Manchester last week where our collaborative team attended a wonderful night of team spirit, recognition and lots of fun! Being NHS colleagues its really refreshing to be able to get dressed up and be part of a special evening where teams come together to celebrate innovative working.
Thanks to the incredible support of Block Solutions, we attended along with the Health Informatics Service (THIS) in true style. A champagne reception, and a delicious three course meal later, the nominations began for the 180 short listed teams.
At last it came to our category – ‘ The Use of Information Technology to Drive Value in Clinical Services’ – our team photo came up on screen… Unfortunately we were not announced as winners this time and the award went to another valued service. However the whole experience has given us the confidence and the drive to continue to work towards improving our service and enhancing the patients’ experiences.
The beauty of such a project lies in the true collaboration between the clinic, the technology, and Industry. Together Yorkshire Fertility, Block Solutions and The Health Informatics Service (THIS) have come together to make great things happen for our patients. Working together really does get results.
